Essex County Fire and Rescue Service

Council Tax Freeze

Essex Fire Authority has frozen Council Tax for the fourth year. The decision was voted through unanimously by councillors attending a meeting at County Hall today.

This means that a Band D household will contribute £66.42 a year for the fire service element of their Council Tax bill. This amounts to just £1.28 a week for a 24 hour a day 365 days a year fire service - the same as one hour's parking in Chelmsford and less than a loaf of bread.

Prudential financial management means that the Service is able to keep the Council Tax at the same rate set in 2010.
