Bonfire Night Safety - British Sign Language Video

A new British Sign Language video produced by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service offers advice on how to stay safe on Fireworks Night.

The video builds on the work the Service has been doing to engage with deaf people throughout Essex which includes a series of British Sign Language fire safety videos, deaf community open days at stations and the Essex Fire Museum and partnership work with deaf organisations in Essex and beyond.

It sees profoundly deaf fire cadet Grace Gilmore sign out key safety advice about how to stay safe and enjoy fireworks.

Divisional Officer Neil Fenwick said: “We are working hard to reach all communities in Essex and these videos have really helped us get important safety messages to the deaf community.

“It is important that we all play our part to stay as safe as possible on Bonfire night. It’s a night packed with excitement but making sure you follow a few simple rules will help keep you and your family safe.”

Our best advice is to attend an organised fireworks display. We are posting details of organised displays on our website here and on the Service’s Facebook page.
