A family of three and their puppy have been left homeless after a fire in their home.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire by 1am after it had spread from the first floor of the two storey detached house and into the roof space.

The house has been left fire and smoke damaged and an investigation into the cause of the fire will take place in the morning.

The family is being supported by the Red Cross and a resident was treated by the Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters are currently at the scene of a house fire in Hart Road, Thundersley.

On arrival, crews reported that there was a fire in a two storey detached house that had spread to the roof space.

Firefighters have contained the fire and are monitoring the roof space for any hotspots.
