Vicarage Lane, North Weald Bassett
20/10/2019 @ 11:03
Incident Number: 111270
In attendance: 2 x Harlow

A toaster fire has caused significant damage to a property in Epping.

Crews were called to the home in Vicarage Lane after reports of a fire in the kitchen.

Crew Manager Stefan Tanfield, Harlow Fire Station, said:

"Initially the homeowner attempted to extinguish the fire after the toaster caught alight in front of her.

"She then called 999 and thankfully our Control Operators advised her and her family to calmly make their way out of the house and close the doors behind them to contain the fire - which was absolutely the right thing to do.

"This meant that although the kitchen has suffered significant fire damage it has been limited to the room of origin."

The fire was extinguished by 11.35am.
