Firefighters were called to a fire in a property in Leigh High Street early this morning (Tuesday 3 September).
When fire crews arrived at the property they confirmed it was a two storey wooden hut, which measured approximately 15m x 6m.
The ground floor of the property was completely alight, and the first floor was also full of smoke.
At 6:30am the firefighters reported that they are making good progress tackling the fire.
Leigh Hill road has been closed so firefighters can deal with the incident safely.
At 10am firefighters at the scene report they are still working to extinguish hot spots in the building.
At 12pm the fire officer in charge reported that a reduced number of crews are still at the scene dampening down the last remaining hot spots.
At 2pm, one fire engine remains at the scene extinguishing remaining hot spots.
At 3:45pm the last firefighters were able to leave the scene.
The cause of the fire has been recorded as deliberate.
