Incident Number: 99690
In attendance: 2 x Braintree
Crews were called to a property in Cressing Road, Braintree, after reports of a fire in the kitchen.
On arrival firefighters reported that the cooker was alight and the room was full of smoke.
Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire by 6.25pm and then cleared the property of smoke.
The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental and was caused after plastic plates were left on top of the cooker, which was then accidentally turned on.
Watch Manager Hurst, Braintree Fire Station, said:
"It's so important to keep cooker and hob areas clear as soon as you've finished cooking.
"Cookers can easily be switched on by accident and if there's anything stacked on top it's likely to eventually catch fire."
Thankfully the property suffered minimal smoke damage.
