Fire next to Southend United FC Stadium

In attendance: 2 x Southend
Crews were called to a fire near Southend United FC's Stadium.
Firefighters were called to Victoria Avenue, Southend on Sea, and on arrival reported that 10 pallets of artificial grass were alight and causing a large amount of smoke.
Firefighters are working quickly to extinguish the fire.
There are no reported injuries.
Update 6.10pm: Two further crews, from Leigh-on-Sea and Hawkwell, have been requested to assist with the fire.
Update 6.20pm: The Incident Commander has reported that the fire is now surrounded and firefighters are making good progress to extinguish it in sections.
Update 6.30pm: Southend United released the following statement:
"Essex Fire Service have successfully attended to a fire which broke out just after 5.20pm in a storage area to the left of the Far Post Bar entrance.
"Nobody was injured and we are thankful to the quick response of Essex County Fire and Rescue Service."
Update 7.15pm: The Incident Commander has requested the attendance of a mechanical digger to assist in breaking up and turning over the pallets, this is so that firefighters can reach deep seated parts of the fire to extinguish it fully.
Update 8pm: The main fire is now out and crews will remain onsite into the night to coordinate the turning over of the pallets and extinguishing smouldering hotspots.
Following an investigation the cause of the fire has been recorded as deliberate.
