Firefighters were called to the scene of a fire within a home this evening.
On arrival, fire crews reported that the owners of the property had contained the fire to the dining room after closing all surrounding doors to prevent it spreading.
The fire, which was extinguished by 5.17pm, has destroyed the dining room.
It was caused accidentally after a hoverboard toy, which had been purchased online from an international seller, ignited while charging.
Buying products online that aren't produced or sold to European Safety standards isn't worth the risk.
You should always look for the CE mark on chargers of your electrical goods. If it doesn't have one, it could be a fire hazard.
We also recommend that you avoid leaving products on charge unattended for long periods - particularly if you're asleep or out of the house.
