Electricity metre on fire in house

Firefighters were called to a fire house in Buckhurst Hill caused by a faulty electricity metre.

When fire crews arrrived they found the hallway and staircase were on fire and the property was full of smoke.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the house and managed to get the fire out within 30 minutes.

Fire crews then ventilated the house to clear the smoke.

The house has been badly damaged by the fire and is no longer habitable.

The cause of the fire was found to be a faulty electricity metre.
