Firefighters were called to a bungalow fire this morning, after a neighbour noticed smoke escaping through an external air vent.
On arrival, fire crews reported that the fire was contained to the building's utility room after the occupants, who weren't home at the time of the fire, had kept the door to the room closed.
The fire was completely extinguished by 11.50am. Fire crews then remained at the scene and used a thermal imaging camera to ensure that there were no hotspots within the ceiling, before clearing the property of remaining smoke using a Positive Pressure Ventiliation (PPV) fan.
The utility room was completely smoke damaged, but firefighters ensured that damage to the rest of the bungalow was kept to a minimum.
Fire crews also ensured two dogs which were being kept in another room, one Staffordshire Bull Terrier and one Boxer, were unharmed.
The fire was caused by a head torch charger and has been recorded as accidental.
