Fatal road traffic collision

Crews were called in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 2 July) to a road traffic collisio involving one vehicle which had hit a tree.

On arrival firefighters reported that one person was trapped in their car and worked to release them. 

The man was left in the care of the Ambulance Service but sadly died at the scene. 

Essex Police released the following statement:

"A man has died following a road traffic collision in Chestnut Avenue, Saffron Walden. 
"Police were contacted around 12.30am today, Sunday, July 2, with reports that a white Volkswagen Polo had left the road and collided with a tree. 
"A 33-year-old man from Saffron Walden, was treated at the scene but sadly died, despite the efforts of paramedics. 
Two other people in the car, a 34-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent and a 35-year-old-man from Braintree, were taken to Addenbrooks Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
