Three derelict terraced houses alight

Firefighters have been called to a fire involving three derelict terraced houses in Southchurch Avenue, Southend. On arrival, crews reported the roofs of the three properties were well alight.

Update 16:31hrs - Incident Command Mark Turnbull reported the building, which comprises of three derelict houses, measures 15m x 10m.Firefighters are tackling the fire using three main jets and two hose reel jets. An aerial ladder platform (ALP) is being used to pour water on the fire from above.

Update 16:56hrs - Steady progress is being made. Firefighters are continuing to use the ALP to tackle the fire from above.

Update 18:03hrs - The fire is now out. Firefighters are turning over and damping down and checking for hot spots.
