Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have been called to a garage on fire next to an diesel tank in Wrabness.
The garage is 100% alight and heavily smoked logged. Two hose reel jets are currently in use.
Update 14:54hrs: Heavy smoke has spread to the attaching two-storey house. Four hose reel jets and one covering jet now in use.
Update 16:07hrs: The fire has been extinguished by crews. One male casualty left in care of the Ambulance Service.
Station Officer Ryan Ainger, from Manningtree Fire Station, said: “We believe the fire was caused from a spark from an angle grinder on a combustible material.
“On arrival the garage roof was 100% alight with a nearby diesel tank melting in the heat of the fire. We used two hoses, one to protect and cool the tank and the other to tackle the garage fire.
“The garage roof and contents inside were completely destroyed by the fire. Crews did a fantastic job in stopping the fire from spreading to adjoining two-storey house.”
