We are one of the largest Fire and Rescue Services in the country, providing services to an area over 1,400 miles and a population of 1.7 million, from over 50 stations. Having been the first Fire and Rescue Service in the country to change its governance and report in to the country’s first Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, we are leading the way in cross service collaboration and will work with Essex Police and wider partners to deliver further improvements to keep our communities safer. Assessment process

We are looking to run assessment centres on the week commencing 30th September, and role specific interviews on the week commencing 7th October. Further details will be shared with shortlisted candidates.

Group Manager Talent Pool

If you are a Station Manager looking for development to prepare you to progress to Group Manager level in the near future, our Group Manager Talent Pool could be for you. Alongside offering you access to development opportunities, including but not limited to shadowing, training courses, coaching & mentoring and promotional opportunities, by successfully taking part in the Talent Pool assessment process you will be eligible to be considered for future promotion opportunities to Group Manager level positions, even if you are not ready to progress at the current time.

The offer to apply for our Group Manager Talent Pool is open to Grey Book employees of all Fire and Rescue Services of the appropriate level (substantive Station Manager, substantive Group Manager).
