Business Continuity Advisor

Fixed-Term Contract


Working Hours: 37 hours per week         

Scale: ECFRS Grade 6 (SCP 29)

Salary: £26,470

Location: Kelvedon Park

The Service is undertaking a change in structure. The ambition is to embed business continuity within new Directorates. Directors will take a more proactive approach to ensure that departments’ function in the event of a major and medium to long term business intervention.

Coupled with your drive and enthusiasm, you will have the appropriate business continuity / contingency planning skills to:

Lead 12 – 15 month fixed term contract to embed business continuity in the revised management structure, using a project management approach.

Provide routine business continuity advice to all levels of management.

Build on, and improve, the existing strategic and departmental plans.

In particular, work closely with Control, Fleet and ICT to develop and mature those BC plans, identified as the vital plans to maintain our blue light and general business response, and,

Plan and deliver an exercise programme for department plans, particularly our vital plans.


You will have your Certificate from the BCI, and be hungry to improve your CV for a career spring into management. It is important that you:

Have a good and demonstrable understanding of making contingency arrangements,

Can demonstrate the delivery of project outputs,

Can also demonstrate a reasonable level of knowledge of the emergency services, notably Fire,

Can operate with all levels of management.

You will understand that business continuity is a statutory responsibility for a Category 1 responder under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.

You will work with the Department Manager and the Risk lead in the provision and delivery of advice across the Service.


A secondment may be considered.
