Within the Single Equality Scheme we set out the key objectives and actions we will carry out to pursue equality for the community and our staff.
These objectives are in the following areas:
- Leadership and Promoting Inclusion
- Effective Service Delivery and Community Engagement
- Employment and Training
- Evaluation and Sharing Good Practice
Whilst we are continuing to meet our commitment to achieve these objectives by 2013 we have updated them to provide further focus during the period April 2012 to March 2013. In 2013 we will be setting further objectives to support our work over the next three years.
Our Single Equality Scheme priority objectives have been aligned to the Fire and Rescue Service National Equality and Diversity Strategy 2008-2018 and also the Fire and Rescue Service Equality Framework which was launched in October 2009. In addition both the public and employees were involved in the planning stages of the Scheme including the use of a public consultation and involvement event and four internal events across the Service. The key messages from the consultation and involvement events were used in developing the Scheme and the Objectives.
